The board of Trustees have a wealth of collective skills and experience to enable them to continue to support the development of Diverse FM Community Media & Training.

Kamal Acharya

Chairperson African Indian

Kamal Acharya holds qualifications in Diploma in Counselling, MCSE, MCDBA (Microsoft Professional) CIPD HR Training, and Eu GDPR Professional Practitioner. He is currently serving as a chairperson and presenter of a weekly show for the Gujarati community at Diverse FM. He also serves as a Trustee of Shree Sanatan Seva Samaj (community centre) as well as LNA (Luton Navratri Association) and assists other Charities.

A multilingual speaker with over 25 years of experience in radio broadcasting and presenting. Kamal brings a wealth of knowledge, professional expertise and lived experience. His passion for community engagement and communication continues to make a positive impact across diverse communities.

Alan Pleasants

Trustee (Vice Chairperson) / Director White European

Alan Pleasants is a Trustee, Director and former service user at Diverse FM. Currently he also serves as the Vice-Chairperson. Alan has over 30 years of experience working as a wine and drinks sales executive, bringing strong professional and leadership skills to the organisation.

In addition, he has more than 35 years of experience working in and managing Hospital Radio, demonstrating a long-standing passion for broadcasting and community engagement. Alan brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and commitment that continues to support the growth and development of the organisation and its community work.

Ashuk Ahmed MBE

Executive Director Bangladeshi

Ashuk is currently serving as an Executive Director. He is a nationally recognised youth and community development leader with over 45 years of experience across youth work, education, regeneration and housing. He is JNC qualified and holds BA (Hons) – Applied Social and Community Studies, Diploma in Higher Education - Youth and Community Development and NVQ Level 3 in Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG).

Over his career, Ashuk has managed and delivered a wide range of projects within local government and the third sector, spanning large, medium, and small-scale initiatives funded by organisations including SRB, ESF, ERDF, the National Lottery, Home Office, BBC Children in Need, and the Arts Council. He is a recipient of several national, regional, and local awards in recognition of his contribution to youth and community development.

Mick Foster

Trustee / Director White European (Irish)

Michael J Naughton (AKA Mick Foster) is currently serving as a Trustee, Director and presenter at Diverse FM. Mick is currently employed with GTR Railways and previously ran his own leisure company as Director.

Mick brings a wealth of local knowledge and lived experience within the radio and entertainment industry. Passionate about radio from an early stage, he spent three years working for Chiltern Radio in the late 1990s, followed by 10 years with Luminar Leisure as a UK DJ Co-ordinator. His extensive experience and long-standing commitment continue to make a valuable contribution to the organisation and the local community.

Roy Robertson

Trustee / Director African Caribbean

Roy Robertson is a Trustee/Director and current presenter at Diverse FM. A qualified electrician by profession, he has been deeply involved in music from an early age, beginning DJ-ing, mixing, and music production at just 14 years old.

Over the years, he has built a strong reputation as a DJ, performing at iconic venues including Ministry of Sound, Gass Club, Aquarium, Bellinis, Legends in Luton, and The Institute in Birmingham, blending technical skill with a lifelong passion for music and community broadcasting.

David Wittering

David Wittering AKA Dave Watts

Trustee / Director White European

Dave Wittering (Dave Watts), also known as Dave Watts, is a Trustee/Director at Diverse FM community media & training and an experienced radio presenter. Qualified electronics engineer specialising in audio and radio, he is also an amateur radio licence holder and active operator.

He has been involved in DJing since 1990, performing in both club environments and on radio, and is an avid collector of heritage soul music. Since 2011, he has been presenting on Diverse FM, bringing together deep technical expertise and long-standing broadcasting experience to support and enrich community radio.

Jasmin Chowdhury

Jasmin Chowdhury is a dedicated trustee at Diverse FM Community Media & Training, with a strong passion for radio presentation and women's empowerment. Before joining Diverse FM, she worked as a radio presenter at a London-based station, where she developed her communication and broadcasting skills.

Jasmin is committed to using media as a platform to inspire, inform and empower communities, particularly encouraging women and young people to find their voice and reach their potential.

Josh Hornsey

Young People's Representative White European

Josh Hornsey is a past service user and current youth representative on the management committee of Diverse FM community media & training. He first developed an interest in DJing at the age of 8 and has since built a strong foundation in music, broadcasting, and technical production.

Josh began volunteering with Diverse FM in 2014, where he has provided ongoing technical and training support. The experience he gained at the station enabled him to take on a station manager role at another internet radio platform, further developing his leadership and operational skills. Alongside his radio work, he runs mobile discos and works as a stage manager and lighting technician for various theatres and community groups. He brings valuable lived experience to the management committee, helping to shape youth-focused provision and ensuring services remain relevant and accessible to the communities Diverse FM serves.

Young People's Representative Bangladeshi

Diverse FM Community Media & Training beneficiary Uthman Bin Ahmed Koyes first became involved with the organisation at the young age of 8. Since then, he has progressed into becoming an active volunteer and sessional paid youth worker, demonstrating dedication, leadership and a strong commitment to supporting local young people.

Uthman brings a wealth of local knowledge and lived experience of the issues affecting children and young people today. Through innovative and creative youth work practices, he has built positive relationships with young people and continues to inspire, engage and empower them within the community.
